Every six months. Over time, build-up from the food we eat accumulates on teeth. It is important to have a professional hygienist clean and a dentist check your teeth at least twice a year.

We offer a wide range of common dental procedures, each tailored to your individual needs. Tooth colored composite fillings range from $205 to $380. All porcelain crowns range from $1400-$2000. Yes, during regular business hours we try to accept walk-ins and accommodate same day emergencies. For established patients, we have an after-hours emergency line.

Early detection is key with dental problems. Many dental issues can be reversed or controlled when caught early. The following could be symptoms of cavities or gum disease:

  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Sensitivity to temperature or sweet foods
  • Pain when chewing
  • Visible holes or dark spots on teeth
  • Bad breath or unpleasant taste
  • Red swollen gums
  • Bleeding with brushing or flossing

Good oral hygiene starts with consistent daily habits. Brushing, flossing and rinsing with mouthwash twice a day all help to remove debris and bacteria that builds up throughout the day. Limiting sugary drinks and snacks can help decrease your risk of tooth decay. Staying hydrated supports saliva production which naturally cleans your mouth. Preventing disease is always the best route and our number one goal!

The two most common types of dental fillings are composite (tooth-colored) and amalgam (silver alloy) fillings. At Texas Sage Dentistry, we use composite fillings exclusively because they are safer for the tooth structure, aesthetically pleasing, and offer strong, long-lasting results. We believe in providing treatments that are both effective and natural-looking to help you smile with confidence.

If you’re experiencing any dental emergency, call our office right away. We will walk you through the next steps and do our best to see you the same day. If your emergency occurs outside of regular hours, please call our office and follow the voicemail instructions to reach the on-call provider. Your comfort and health are our top priority!

Like any medical procedure, dental treatments carry some potential risks, but serious complications are rare. Some common mild side effects could be: temporary teeth sensitivity after fillings or cleanings, mild soreness or swelling after procedures like extractions or deep cleanings, or minor bleeding from gums after flossing or treatment. Some less common risks depending on the procedure could include: infection or allergic reactions to materials or anesthetics. At Texas Sage Dentistry, patient safety is our top priority. We use modern techniques, high-quality materials and take time to explain every procedure to ensure you feel informed and comfortable. Although potential risks from treatment are possible, fixing a problem early greatly reduces these risks.

We offer comfort amenities like blankets, stress balls, numbing gel, local anesthesia and laughing gas. Dental anxiety is more common than you think and we are here to help you feel comfortable, understood and in control every step of the way!

Fluoride is widely supported in dentistry as a safe and effective way to prevent cavities and strengthen tooth enamel. At Texas Sage Dentistry, we believe in the benefits of fluoride and offer it as part of our preventative care for both children and adults. That being said, we also understand that some patients prefer fluoride-free alternatives. For those individuals, we offer hydroxyapatite, a naturally occurring mineral that also helps rebuild and protect enamel. We respect our patients’ values and are happy to discuss the pros and cons of each option so you can make the choice that feels right for you!

Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth, because they are the closest thing to a natural tooth both in function and appearance. With proper care, implants can last decades and often a lifetime. Implants stimulate bone and help prevent bone loss that often follows from tooth loss. Unlike bridges, implants don’t rely on neighboring teeth for support which preserves your natural tooth and bone structure.

Yes, pregnant women absolutely can and should see a dentist. We typically recommend coming in during the second trimester for a cleaning and exam to make sure everything is healthy before baby arrives. Maintaining good oral health during pregnancy is important for both mom and baby. We always will follow the recommendations of your OB-GYN to ensure your health and comfort are prioritized.

We offer two types of professional whitening treatments:

  • Opalescence Go- These are convenient, pre-filled trays that you can use at home. They are ready to wear, comfortable and deliver noticeable results without the need for impressions. Great for patients who want a simple, effective option.
  • Custom Whitening Trays- We fabricate trays specifically molded to your teeth, which you use at home with professional-grade whitening gel. This option offers more control over the whitening process and is ideal for patients looking for gradual, long lasting results.

Bad breath could be a sign of an undiagnosed disease. Poor oral hygiene, gum disease, dry mouth, diet, or some medical conditions and medications could cause bad breath. Some ways to treat and prevent bad breath are brushing/flossing twice a day, brushing your tongue, staying hydrated and visiting our office regular for cleanings.

For most people, it is recommended to see the dentist every six months for a routine cleaning and checkup. These regular visits help catch small issues early, help prevent cavities and keep your gums healthy. However, some patients may need to come in more often especially if they have history of gum disease, frequent cavities, braces or medical conditions such as diabetes or dry mouth. At Texas Sage Dentistry, we personalize your care schedule based on your specific needs. After your exam, we’ll recommend a timeline that’s right for you to keep your smile in great shape.

A dentist is a general oral health provider who diagnoses and treats a wide range of dental issues, including cleanings, fillings, crowns, and more. An orthodontist is a dental specialist who focuses specifically on correcting bite problems and straightening teeth using braces or other alignment systems. At Texas Sage Dentistry, we provide clear aligner treatment (such as Invisalign-style systems) for mild to moderate cases of crowding, spacing, and bite alignment. These are a great option for adults and teens looking for a discreet alternative to metal braces. For more complex orthodontic needs, especially cases requiring brackets and wires, we’ll refer you to a trusted local orthodontist to ensure you get the best care possible.

It is important to know that natural remedies can provide temporary relief from toothaches or gum pain, but they do not treat the underlying cause. If you’re in pain, it is still best to see the dentist as soon as possible.

Many people associate root canals with pain, but the truth is that root canals are designed to relieve pain, not cause it. The discomfort people often remember is usually from the toothache or infection that led to the root canal, not the procedure itself. We use modern techniques and effective numbing to make the experience as comfortable as possible. After the root canal procedure, you may have some mild soreness or pressure for a few days.

Your comfort is our top priority! We offer several options to help make your dental visit as pain and stress free as possible that include topical numbing gel, local anesthesia, laughing gas and oral sedation. If you are nervous about pain or have had a bad experience in the past, please let us know! We will tailor your visit to make it as easy and comfortable as possible.

Yes, our sedation options include nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral sedation (prescription). Nitrous oxide is a mild, fast-acting sedative that helps you relax during treatment. You will remain awake and alert and the effects wear off quickly so you can drive yourself home afterward. We offer oral sedation for patients who need a deeper level of relaxation. We will prescribe medication to take before your appointment. You remain conscious but will feel calm and drowsy throughout the procedure. A driver is required for oral sedation. IV Sedation from a trained dental anesthesiologist is available upon request.

It can be frustrating to get cavities despite having good at home oral care. We can help identify what is contributing to your cavities and give you personalized tips or preventative treatments such as fluoride, sealants, or prescription toothpaste. Cavities can still happen due to a combination of factors beyond just hygiene:

  • Frequent snacking, sugary drinks, or acidic foods can weaken enamel, even if you brush regularly. Brushing after sugary snacks is helpful, but snacking frequently throughout the day keeps your teeth under constant attack.
  • Some people naturally have softer enamel or more cavity-prone grooves in your teeth from genetics.
  • Saliva helps neutralize acids and wash away bacteria. If you have dry mouth, you’re more likely to develop decay.
  • Brushing too quickly, missing certain areas or not using fluoride toothpaste.

Your first visit with us is all about getting to know you, your dental history and your goals for your smile. Our front office team will help you get settled and complete any necessary forms. Our clinical team will take necessary x-rays to help us see what is going on beneath the surface and our hygienist will gently remove plaque, tartar and surface stains for a fresh, healthy feel. Our dentist will examine your teeth, gums, bite and check for signs of decay, gum disease and other concerns. If any treatment is recommended, our treatment coordinator will clearly explain your options, costs, insurance benefits and payments. Our goal is to make your first visit easy, informative and stress free so you can feel confident about your oral health and our team.

Yes, dental care is safe and highly recommended for children. In fact, early dental visits help set the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles. We use gentle techniques, kid-friendly explanations and a calm, welcoming environment to ensure your child feels comfortable and safe.

We typically recommend a child’s first visit by age 1 to 2. This allows us to gently introduce them to the dental environment and help them feel comfortable with the sights, sounds, and equipment in a fun, low-pressure way. Our goal is to create positive early experiences, so your child grows up feeling confident and relaxed at the dentist. If you ever have concerns earlier than age 1 (teething issues, discoloration or injury), we are always happy to see them sooner!
